Just wanted to add my thanks, I had exactly the same problem and like graphite_wp I found the problem was down to Smooth Slider 2.3.2. Rolled back to 2.2 and the problem went away.
You don’t need to change the ID in the options at all. Leave it as your user ID.
To get this working, simply use the following code in your post:
[flickr-gallery mode=”search” group_id=”thegroupid“]
So, if you wanted to show pictures from the Paris group, the code would be:
[flickr-gallery mode="search" group_id="36101698174@N01"]
