In reply to: Someone hacked some code into my blogWell sorted at some cost and still no idea how it happened.
Thanks for the assistance, but for someone like me there should be an easier way of reinstalling the relevant files and I hope developers will look at that for the future.
The strange thing about the whole affair was that the link was to a family album somewhere in Tucson which had nothing to gain from the link.

In reply to: Someone hacked some code into my blogI used the word ‘hacked’ in my query. How do we know it is hacked? There is nothing else wrong except this one stupid advert. It happened when I signed up for clicksor who I instantly dropped when I saw the sort of adverts they were issuing. It could just be a vestige from something clicksor added.
Anyway, I think I better just put up with it. It only appears on IE and Chrome.
This is meant to be easy, obviously not and now I presume I have to spend hundreds of pounds getting someone to do … to do what? And with what guarantees.
Disillusioned.

In reply to: Someone hacked some code into my blogI’ve looked at some of these references and they just seem horrendously complicated. My site is perfect with the exception of one line of code. I have found it, but how do I get rid of it. Surely I don’t have to spend countless hours on all these solutions to get rid of a single link in one spot on my site.

I am not a programmer. I am a pensioner trying to make sense of this. There is a file and that code is in the middle of it. The file is the one which displays the index above and below it. All I need to know is how to get into that html file and remove the piece of code.
When I inspect element I can see it in the code. If I highlight it I can delete it, but there is no way of saving the clean file and when you exit the DOM whatever it is viewer the code remains.
There must be a way to delete a single line of html without doing all the nightmare things you suggest above. Surely?

In reply to: Someone hacked some code into my blogThank you Matt. Done the virus checks etc. Nothing shows up. Also checked downloaded programs etc. Nothing.
I do know exactly where the piece of code is, I just can’t find out how to get rid of it. It is a simple piece of html:
and it is in the body tag. But how do I get into it to remove it? That is the problem.
Cheers.

In reply to: [NSFW] subscribers v usersHi Stephanie,
As I understand it the only people who get notifications are the subscribers to the blog. Users are irrelevant and are usually just people wanting to spam your blog.
Hope that helps.
Despite over 60,000 stories being read on our blog we still only have 20 subscribers. We’ve tried everything to encourage people to subscribe including giving away free books. Nothing seems to work.
As we are a sex blog it is possible that people are reluctant to receive mail from us so that could be a reason. LOL. Actually most of our readers seem to be women judging by email feedback.
Angie
So you’ve not had that email notification. I’ll check out that link.
Ang
Did you mean cum again. LOL. You know what the blog is about. Haha.
We’re just a bit miffed that while there are hundreds of articles read everyday on our site there are only 15 getting email notifications. That tells me we are losing out on what could be a lot of regulars as the average visitor reads more than two posts.
Ah, well, there’s nowt so queer as folk!
Ang
OK let’s leave it 24 hours to allow for email delays. If no email by tomorrow that means that users have to subscribe as well in order to get notifications which is what I feared.
I’m not sure why someone would want to be a user, but not want to know when something is posted. Seems odd.
Let me know if an email arrives.
Thanks so much for helping me with this.
Angie
I’m just going to put a test post on the site. Will you let me know if you get an email telling you it is there.
Many thanks.
Must be nice for you to have someone to talk to now. LOL.
You keep talking to yourself Julian, but I am still trying to find out how people become users on my blog. I have a subscriber link, but not a user link. Also I can’t find out whether users on my site get notifications of my blog posts or not.
Can you talk to yourself a bit more and see if that helps you give me an answer!
LOL.

In reply to: [NSFW] subscribers v usersThank you for answering TAra, but I still don’t have an answer to either of the two questions – do users on my blog get a notification when something is posted and how do people become users on my blog – I can’t see what they click to become a user.
Can you answer that plesse. It seems a fairly simple question but I’ve never been able to get an answer to it.
The Roles and Capabilities pate you referred me to doesn’t seem to even mention who gets notifications at all.
HELP! Getting very frustrated about the inability to get this answered.
Angie
Great. Thanks Stephen. I think the period at the end of that line should have been at the beginning of the next line hence the problem.
Now all I have to do is find out how to change the colour of all the links in the right hand margin, in the widgets, so I’ll be digging into the forum again tomorrow to see if that is covered.
Help was much appreciated.

In reply to: [Twenty Twelve] Can't change visited link colorThanks Jan. I’ve done that. Thought as it was still open I could use it.

In reply to: [Twenty Twelve] Can't change visited link color[NSFW] http://www.angelagoodnight.com/sexblog/ I, too am having this problem and cannot get the visited link in the content to change at all, although it seems to have changed things like the edit link for editing a page, but for everything else I’m stuck with the miserable grey coloured visited link and hover doesn’t work at all on visited links.
These are my changes (but scroll to the bottom where there is another observation:
/* Links */
.entry-content a:visited, .
comment-content a:visited {
color: #33cc00;
text-decoration: underline;
}a {
outline: none;
color: #0033ff;
text-decoration: underline;
}a:hover {
color: #ff00ff;
text-decoration: underline;
}If I remove this:
.entry-content a:visited, .
comment-contentthen the green does appear, but only on links for me as an admin i.e. the edit link at the bottom of the page.
This really should be a piece of cake to change. Can’t understand why it is made so complicated. My WordPress site is http://www.angelagoodnight.com/sexblog
Any further help much appreciated.
