The links do not function at all (or even appear!) – they don’t even render into links. In normal circumstances they work perfectly.
It seems like they just ignore any private posts from that particular navigation type, next_post_link or prev_post_link.

My mistake… was an automatic thing happening with Redirection… fixed now
