The Semiologic theme header is in a table. I didn’t want my image to be a background, so I just added a second cell to the table row. The result is the title on one side and the image on the other. Pretty simple. You can see it here on an a new site I’m working on.

I had a lot of trouble with lazy-gallery also. I just went back to JAlbum, which I had on my old static site. It couldn’t be easier to use, has many themes available, and can be easily customized to match the look of your main site (see my adaptation at http://www.donandlinda.net. I just grabbed a piece of map, put it in Paint-Shop Pro, changed it grayscale, and then did some altering at the edges to make sure the roads all matched for a perfect repeat. Then I “lightened” the whole thing for a background. It came out better than I thought it would.
