Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [OceanWP] Mobile Menu bug, Ocean WPMany thanks. Changing from Icon to Link works but only in Sidebar menu style, not Dropdown or Full Screen mode. I’ll live with it for now. π
If I don’t see any additional comments soon, I’ll mark as Resolved.
cheers.
THX for the tip. I’m using Chrome. Checked settings and can’t see what might be causing problem. Switched to Opera, deleted cookies, no luck there, either. Tried Safari. Couldn’t find cross-site tracking switch so I deleted cookies, refreshed, no luck. Same result as above – redirected to WP forum.
I can’t contact you via the link you posted because the contact form is not showing, with the reason I’m not logged in, even though I am logged in to wordpress.com. If I go through the log in process again on that page, I’m taken to the wordpress.com dashboard. If I click the Question mark icon in the lower right and click “Contact Us”, I’m told to go to the Support Forum. IOW, Closed loop. π
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: resetting debug.log and making it privateWhat happens to the site exactly when you try to remove the contents? Does any error show up or just a blank screen on the entire site?
Blank screen on entire site.
Are you just trying to empty out the debug.log file contents or trying to remove the entire file itself?
Just want to empty the contents. Also, Wordfence says the file is publicly accessible and should be fixed. When I change permissions, get blank screen.
Do you have define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true ); set in inside of the wp-config.php file?
Yes.
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true ); define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', true ); define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );Thanks, Jarret.
I understand now. Unzip the files and copy the folders over existing folders in wp-content.
Helps to read the documentation when you have plenty of sleep. π
The issue is sorted now. See the thread in wp=staging forum, #post-10991423.
I would like some more detail about manual restores, i.e., uploading .zip files to plugins, themes, etc. to the respective folders and unzip? What about the existing files?
I’ll mark this as solved. If someone wants to comment on that newbie question, I would still welcome it.
Thanks.
Thank you, Rene,
Yes, I had a backup via UpdraftPlus but could only access it through the staging site. I don’t suppose invoking that backup would have been a good idea?
I did get access to the server finally and modified ‘site’ and ‘home’ in the database but that did no good. What worked was deleting the plugin that changed the login url to a custom one. That plugin was not a problem until I messed with the ‘home’ and ‘site’ in the staging site. Nothing would bring back the live site admin except deleting that plugin and using the standard wp-admin suffix to log into the live admin area. From there, Updraft Plus took care of the restore.
Motivation? Desperation and fatigue trying to solve a menu problem. The fatigue caused some confusion. I should have known better. All sorted now. π
I’ll mark this topic as solved if there is no reply necessary.
Thanks for your quick assistance!
I need to do the same. Locked out of admin but will be getting access to server. Do I just grab the zip files from the Updraft Plus backup folder and unzip them in the respective folders? They overwrite everything in the folder? How do I handle multiple zips/folder?
Yes, the issue sorted itself, somehow. Thanks, Tracy. π
mbrsolution, Thanks for your clarification. I did have whitelisting enabled. I assumed that would not block others but only allow, unconditionally, whitelisted IP addresses.
WP solutions, Thank you. I did not try the default login URL. That was next on the list. However, when I unticked “enable whitelisting”, as mbrsolutions suggested, the “the other admin” having trouble (only two of us are admin) was able to log in. Problem solved. Scratching my head but glad it is resolved.
The address I am trying to whitelist is an edu IP that is dynamic. Are you familiar with how to whitelist a range of the last three numbers?
Thanks.
Thanks. I will “whitelist” the IP address now of the admin having difficulty with the login screen.
Curious as to why that would be a problem, but I’ll accept it if it cures the issue!
And I see that the user is showing as βlogged inβ in the User panel but not on AIOWPS panel.
Delete that comment. Apologies. Too anxious in looking for solutions.
User in question NOT logged in.
And I see that the user is showing as “logged in” in the User panel but not on AIOWPS panel.
