I’ve just encountered issues again on another site. I took database backups on 2 websites and it worked fine. But on the third website, it didn’t work. Similar to my original post, no error messages and nothing in the logs. I also checked Javascript console and no error messages. BackWPUp version 5.2.1. I then updated to 5.3.2 but same behavior. Version 5.2.1. actually did work on this particular website back in May – it’s very flakey as to whether it works or doesn’t. Unfortunately since going from 4.x to 5.x it’s just doesn’t work on some websites and gives no indication of why. I’ve had to give up on it for this particular website and install different backup plugin.
Thanks for replying. I’ve already removed the plugin on that particular site and switched to a different backup plugin. But I did try removing and reinstalling BackWPup on other sites when I had the same issue and it made no difference. However, I do manage multiple sites that have BackWPup installed so next time I encounter the issue I’ll check the console and reply back on this thread.
Why bother fix version 5, just dump it and go back to version 4. As the saying goes “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!” For now I’m rolling back to version 4 on all sites that I manage. Maybe someone will fork version 4 if you guys don’t restore full functionality and backwards compatibility and conveniences such as one click db backup.

In reply to: [Slider Blocks] Actual output does not match settingsThanks for replying. However, I’ve already passed on Gutslider and moved on to a different solution (I used swiper.js and made a Gutenberg block for it with Lazy Blocks).

In reply to: [Strong Testimonials] More link does not workActually that’s not the reason for this behavior – if you set the custom length to 100 words, ‘read more’ should not show at all for testimonials with less words, so it’s a bug in the plugin. Note that the ‘Read more’ link does not work and it hides some text from the testimonial. In fact this bug has been in every version since 3.1.7 and still no fix. There are multiple support threads about it – here’s one from 10 months ago: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/superfluous-read-more-link-with-short-testimonials/

In reply to: [Strong Testimonials] Read More on new lineThis bug has been in every version since 3.1.7 (almost a year) and still no fix. Many support requests but just same response each time – ‘There is an open ticket with our development team regarding this’ and marked as resolved. Disappointing!

In reply to: [Strong Testimonials] Read more button not workingIt’s very annoying that this bug has not been addressed yet, it’s been over 8 months already. I still have to keep the old version 3.1.7 active on multiple websites that I manage.
@beatrice12 is there a plan to fix this bug any time soon?

In reply to: [Strong Testimonials] Slideshow view still broken in version 3.1.12Hmm, sounds like the same response as 7 months ago and 2 months ago. It was working fine up until version 3.1.8. Not sure why it’s such a big deal to undo the bug introduced in that release.
Thank you for the explanation. We had a few unsolicited submissions but it might not be typical bot generated spam. I will let you know more details if it becomes an issue.
I did a quick setup of this configuration for testing purposes and looks like it solves the problem. I’ll do some more testing tomorrow and get back if still having issues.
Thanks very much for your help. You guys provide fantastic support, even for the free version!

In reply to: [Slim SEO - A Fast & Automated SEO Plugin For WordPress] Title not displayingThanks for replying. wp_title() doesn’t actually appear to be currently deprecated according to WP docs. But in any case, it might be worth mentioning in instructions that SlimSEO not backwards compatible with wp_title().
