Hi @mcsupport, this one seems to have gone missing above:
Hi @mcsupport / Malachite, thanks for the input! I understand what you’re saying, but given that this bug has potentially thrown away a vast number of the most valuable subscribers for any webstore, you really need to reach out to your colleagues in support and explain the severity of this issue so this can be proactively addressed across the board.
Relying on your users contacting support on a case-by-case basis just doesn’t cut it here, as 99% of the affected users probably won’t know what’s happened in the 1st place, and as such, won’t know they need to reach out to support in the first place. They’ll have lost an unknown number of vital subscribers, and that needs to be resolved.
This is a super serious issue, so really hope you will work together with the rest of the MC team to address it.

Hi @mcsupport, thanks, great news the issue has been resolved! Now the task of identifying and restoring the affected ecommerce customers/subscribers who have inadvertently been unsubscribed due to this bug – and this will really need to be done for all your users of this plugin, proactively at your end, since a) most plugin users are probably unaware that this has even been happening, b) you have much more data on exactly what these unsubscribes look like so you’ll be able to spot these across your user base. Looking forward to getting the affected users resubscribed, and thanks again for fixing the bug.
Hi @brandynf and @helostore, thanks a lot for sharing your findings! Can you let us know exactly what to look for, for signs of such an unintentional unsubscribe (I’m guessing correlation between purchase time/unsubscribe time, as you also mentioned)? And argh, having paying customers unsubscribed by mistake is pretty much the worst that could happen with this plugin, as these are critically-important subscribers for an ecommerce site.
@mcsupport, could you please proactively review unsubscribes from all stores connected with this plugin for correlation between purchase time and unsubscribe time (or other signs, if @brandynf can help with that) – and if there’s a match, resubscribe those users. Given the severity of this issue – and that the vast majority of plugin users are probably unaware of this even happening – this sounds like it needs to be reviewed and resolved at your end.
@helostore, ouch, that’s a gigantic flaw if that’s indeed the case! @mcsupport, can you get one of the actual developers to chime in on this in here, so we can find out what’s happening?
Also @mcsupport, if you at Mailchimp want to quickly check if something’s wrong on a larger scale: Simply run a check on the lists for users of this plugin. If there’s a correlation between a list member’s order time and the list member unsubscribing, well, then that’s could point to some very bad news.
Hi @jdembowski, thanks for the reminder. This thread was marked as ‘Resolved’ so wasn’t quite sure whether anyone were paying attention to it anymore – I’ll delete the other post.
That sounds very worrying – thanks a lot for sharing, @helostore! And thanks @anderly for chiming in about this being for another plugin.
I’ve opened a new thread over at the Mailchimp for Woocommerce plugin, and @helostore, you’re more than welcome to chime in over there so this can hopefully be addressed. Here’s that new thread: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/do-you-unsubscribe-current-subscribers-who-dont-opt-in-on-checkout-2/

@brandynf that sounds strange indeed – if you’ve got some examples of those unsubscribes, I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with support so they can investigate further.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function plugin_basename()I was running 4.6.1 – now upgraded to 4.7.2
Thanks @mcsupport / Pearl! – this is the alternate plugin I’m using to provide for shortcodes and comment box/contact form subscriptions: https://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/
Ok, that’s great to hear! And what if the box is checked per default, the customer is a subscriber, but the customer unchecks it on checkout?
Hi @benvassen, I think the easiest thing is simply to check out the thread on Github regarding the issue:
Still no resolution in sight after 15 months. Shame on you.
This is still happening – are you looking into this?

In reply to: [Autoptimize] Autoptimize Woocommerce WPEngine – recommended approach?Hi Frank, thanks for the ideas! I’m excited to give it a go. Testing performance for logged in users is quite tricky, as none of the regular test sites can do that. Any thoughts on how it can be done (rather than just going by whether it feels fastwr/slower). Also the API approach sounds interesting – so would be really interested in seeing the code you mention.
Thanks again!
