Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Forced update, password change, theme broken? And, as of this morning, when I log into my admin panel and click ‘live preview’ on my the theme I’m being told is broken I get a screen with nothing but this message:
“Cheatin’ uh?”
Have I been hacked? Site hasn’t even been live for a day!
Please help! I’m building this site for a friend and having trouble explaining what’s going on.

In reply to: Alternative site structures: Category pages = no comments?I’ve posted the issue there last week and have gotten no response. Not sure that its a theme issue or whether its something that might be true for the more general WP loop.

In reply to: Alternative site structures: Category pages = no comments?@donhoward: The site isn’t live yet, just running a local server so can’t provide a link.
@alchymyth: I’m using blankslate by TidyThemes. Was hoping I’d be able to add comments at least to the blogs and images pages. If this won’t work because I’m using category pages, is there another way to configure/structure the site that will make comments an option?
Thanks

In reply to: Best approach for full customizationI think my hesitation about using the Blank Slate came from reading this:

From what I understand, using a child theme allows you to “protect” the custom changes you make for a site whereas, with Blank Slate, child themes aren’t recommended (by the developer) and so pulling in any updates made by the developer can wipe out your custom code.
Is there a way to protect your custom code from Blank Slate developer updates (besides never updating?) or is creating a child theme from a very basic WP theme a more robust and maintainable option?
