In reply to: Modifying htaccessI would do it like this:
RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^pricing?$ /blog/pricing [L].HTACCESS file was checked, and I just checked again. Nothing strange there.
You indeed mentioned one question that the host support didn’t mention, the server level redirects.
But as I mentioned, I was asked to remove all the warnings, error in the website before they can correct the problem. Followed by disable all the plugins etc. Nothing helped much.
The running HTTPS all the time is their solution.
Thank you @roy Ho for following this subject so closely.
Here is what I got from my hosting’s technical support: “As wordpress is setup to use http and the woo commerce plugin is setup to use https there is generating the redirecting loop. Unfortunately I’m afraid that both of them can not work on the same time so you should keep only one method. https for all links or http for all links”
I want to get a second opinion here, because I think it doesn’t make sense to me.
Thank you @roy Ho. First of all, I can’t do any test on the site, it went live.
But for your question, from the test I’ve done, if I visit the site via HTTP, it stays at HTTP. If I visit the site via HTTPS, it stays at HTTPS, and there is no error on this setting.
The problem (redirect loop) happens when site setup at HTTP, and goto checkout page in WooCommerce.
The live site is currently running on HTTPS all the time.
Thank you @roy Ho, your suggestion was tested. As I mentioned, no plugin is activated but WooCommerce related.
I specifically tried your recommendation. It didn’t work.

Can Double Click integrate with Google Translate?

In reply to: Tooltip dictionary plugin with multi language support. Any advice?Okay. The site is an educational newspaper site in only one language, English.
Client like to have such a dictionary plugin, which can offer different edition base on the reader (‘s choice). It maybe English -> English, or English -> Spanish, or English -> French, etc.

In reply to: Tooltip dictionary plugin with multi language support. Any advice?Thank you for the reply. I don’t know if I explained it correctly.
Can CM Tooltip Glossary supports dictionary in another language? I am not talking about WPML. I know and used WPML before, don’t have any plan to use WPML. It is just an english site. Client wants to add the dictionary function, while reader can use a dictionary in their own language, not the website.
I can’t see this in CM plugin, and no demo or screenshot showing this.

In reply to: What database structure is this?Thank you, @gadgetroid
The tables with the date suffix are older version of that specific table, and not currently used. By comparing the size and content, I confirm my conclusion, and cleaned up the database.
The website was maintained by a non technical person, who has not enough knowledge to manage WordPress, and doesn’t know what the backup is doing. She still think the backup was setup, but don’t know the backup didn’t actually happen.
I still have no clue where the redundant copies come up. But glad to have it cleaned up without effect the website. Of course, backup is the first step.
Thank you for the input.

In reply to: What database structure is this?(Sorry, didn’t mean to click the post button so soon)
In terms of the backup job. The website employed “WordPress backup to Dropbox” to do backup. But the plugin can’t handle the size of the site, and never actually backup anything. I removed it and replaced it with another one that works.
I don’t have the plugin installed on the site, and can’t find out if the weird database structure is caused by the plugin.

$table_prefix = ‘wp_’;
there is no doubt at this. The question is, all those redundant tables have the same prefix. I am pretty sure those redundant tables are useless to the active website (the only site in this hosting account).
I just don’t know how were they created and why, for what purpose.

I UNCHECKED “Receive Stream Insider news”. Hope this is not the cause.
