WordPress response is different for same passwords applied on
different platforms running different levels of XP.

Both Page and Plugin (LBB) password protection work on my Dell 3000 Desktop for both Logged-on Administrative users and plain jane No-logon visitors. This computer is running XP PRO.The web site uses the Basic Simplicity theme.

The same cannot be said for my HP Notebook 110 runing XP HOME.

The PRO version works, the HOME version just loops back to the entry display for reentry of password for both types of users.

This feels like a character set definition problem across platforms.

I am at a loss for ideas, any suggestions or guidance will be appreicated .

Please suggest another title for this problem so it might get some attention. Thanks Bob

    Hmm…
You might try something like “Passwords work differently on XP Home vs. XP pro”
or “XP Home incorrectly handles WordPress passwords”
or even “WordPress passwords malfunction on some operating systems”

Because it is the passwords you are having trouble with, right? You should probably put something about the malfunctioning password in the title to clue would-be problem solvers in to what your real problem is.

Sorry I can’t shed any light on your real question. I have never had any problems like that with my WordPress. But then again, I use neither XP Home nor XP Pro, so I wouldn’t know 🙂

I do hope the title suggestions help you find an answer though!

Thanks to Mindbender 3D for the thoughtful assist.

I marked this “resolved” as apparently XP HOME requires 8 character passwords where XP PRO (at least my version) takes 6 character passwords. Bob
