Ok….How do I execute a wp-mail.php file and what, exactly, is a cron job?
I know that my host allows and provides a pgm for cron jobs, I just don’t know what it is. Sorry, but I’m a ‘duh!’ about a lot of this. It’s all new to me.
The wp-mail.php is executed simply by putting that address into your browser, and going there.
A ‘cron job’ is a program that sits on the server and carries out certain tasks at certain times, or it checks for certain conditions and then carries out specified tasks.
So if you were going on holiday, you could set a cron job for each morning that would check wp-mail.php, and if you had mailed an entry, it would post it to your page.
Equally, you could set it to check every few hours.

Ok, I got the wp-mail.php to “say” it has found an email and posted it, but it never really posted it to the web. I can go into wordpress and edit the document and save it, but once again it won’t post.
Suggestions?
Thanks
Bernard
Podz…did that. I get this error message: Login Failed: POP3 pass: authentication failed [-ERR Username/Password Mismatch perhaps silverbear@yourdomain.com ?]
Suggestions?
Silverbear – did you follow the format for posting your entry ? There may have been some sort of error as what you have there is not a wp failure, it’s a mail error.
Bernard – I’ve not experienced that..

Podz,
Thanks for the info, the system is still doing the same thing. What a bummer!
