• Hi, I recently tried to update my plugins and I got an unrecognized password error. So I changed my password via my websites database manager and put in the new password in word press and I still get the same error.

    What am I doing wrong?

    When you update plugins you shouldn’t be getting a database password error. If there was truly a database error then you would not get that far.

    Are you sure you are not getting an FTP password issue? How are you upgrading the plugins? What is the exact error you get?

    The error I get is:
    Error: There was an error connecting to the server, Please verify the settings are correct.
    My webhost even checked it and came up blank. THis is what they sent me:
    “I can not say for sure why it is not working as their is no errors being
    reported. I looked at the server logs and account logs and found no information.
    I even used several of the remote host names that would work. For example your
    doamin, 20.webmasters.com, and ns10.webmasters all of which will work for any
    FTP client. Im afraid without a error being reported and the correct settings
    being used, we are at a dead end. The only thing I can recommend is contacting
    the vendor of the script or search for a forum thread for the software and see
    if others are faced with the issue and what they have done to work around it.
    Unfortunately when third party apps fail, all we can do is recommend contacting
    the vendor since they wrote the source.”

    I’ve searched this forum and this seems to be a bug. The problem is I can’t automatically upgrade to a new version now since I get this error.

    Whats the URL of your website. Im pretty good at troubleshooting these things. Does your website come up at all. Are you getting that error only when try to login?
