wp e commerce Plug in problems

    Hi all
    I installed the wp e commerce plugin
    added my categories
    added my products
    when i want to add my products it only gives the option of one category for me to put my products in
    secondly when i come to add the one product that is shown in the products page it will not allow me to add
    could this be because of the theme i am using?
    why can i not add extra products or categories to wp and also the variation option of wp does not work
