• Hi, I am working with a WP theme from the75press. They have some nice themes, but as I study the format of the themes, I see some drawbacks. Mostly, the themes from this company are much more rigid in the placement, of widgets and plugins. A few joomla templates have 15, 20, 28, etc, module positions to select from. I

I ma fairly new to WP but it appears that many themes are set up with only a few page options, such as full width, one column, etc, nad WP does not really use a system similar to the module system. I think I have seen some WP themes that have more flexibility, but in general, WP themes are much less customizable. I am reading the tea leaves correctly here? I am not endorsing joomla, just trying to learn about the flexibility of WP themes vs WP

Any thought on flexibility of WP? Thanks

  • If I’m not wrong, WordPress’es template system is the easiest one you’ll ever see. I was a Joomla-Mambo before I discovered the ease of WordPress back in 2006.

WordPress themes are designed to handle different content, so you cannot expect a portfolio theme to work well on a magazine website, unless you dive into the code and make some changes.

You should always consider what you’re planning to use for a theme before you make a purchase. This will help you choose the right theme.

    Cheers.

WP templates are super easy to import, but are they as customizable, as far as having 20+ places (example) to pick from when placing content? Or does it just depend on the theme design.

I looked at many WP themes, and the layout choices looked much less flexible. Do WP themes offer these same style choices? If yes, does anybody have suggestions on known template suppliers that have these style of templates? Thank you

    Macauley999,

What kind of themes are looking for? There are tons of different WP themes. Real Estate, portfolio, Q&A, magazine style, blogging, restaurants, landing pages, etc.
