WP 4.5 broke all versions of Visual Composer except the latest version. I have installs that cannot be upgraded and thus – we have a problem.

The problem is that when editing a page with VC the editor does not show up. Thus you can’t edit the page at all in native VC. Classic still works but that shows all the shortcodes and my customers can’t have that.

    Is this known?

  • Assuming you are referring the the default Visual and Text editors, you currently seem to be the only person who is experiencing this – which, in turn, suggests that it is an issue with your site. Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

That is a very well known issue with Visual Composer and the newest jQuery; you need to update VC, as well as any themes impacted. See https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-45-master-list?replies=7
