WordPress Update

Hi, I’m trying to update to 3.9. After clicking automatic update, I get the message: Could not create directory. Installation failed.

I went in with Mozilla and uploaded 3.9 manually into the folder for my website, overwriting the WP file that were there.

The dashboard recognizes only the 3.8 version that was installed before.

Using Filezilla, I looked at the config files in the WP folder. I have both a wp-config.php and a wp-confiq-sample.php there. Is this creating the auto update failure?
