• I have read all the FAQs I can find on this. We have purchased our own copy of WordPress and we have it running on Windows Server 2003. We never got the admin email with a user/pass and, as it turns out, there was not a admin account in the database. I am not a mySQL/PHP guru but I was able to add a record to the wp_users table with the mySQL command prompt.

I have the user name and password in there but I am unable to login. It keeps telling me wrong password even though I know the user/pass is 100% correct. I did not do the M5 hash and I am not sure that is even required or not. I can’t believe it is but if it is then that may be the problem. I don’t know.

In any event, I have a user/pass in the database that is not working. I notice fields in the table like user_status. I am not sure if these need to be set or not. Does anyone know if the M5 hash is the problem or what may be the problem?

    Thanks…..Rob

  • If necessary, please read Resetting_your_password and just change the password for your admin user with phpMyAdmin.

Just FYI, but wordpress is a free product.

I do not have phpMyAdmin and I really do not want it on my PC. From what I have seen, it is all command driven install, etc.

In addition, I have seen this several times on the board The user name and password is there. I used the command prompt to add the account and it is there. So……………. why can’t I login?

    Thanks…..Rob

Yes, m5 might be the problem.

Unless you’re hosting WP on your on computer – you don’t need phpMyAdmin on your machine.
