Self Hosted. I’m not even sure what “Hosted Elsewhere” might be, but if you’re on wp.com or another server, they may just be referring to anywhere but with them. So technically, if that’s what’s going on, it could be both.

You’re talking about a domain name, not hosting?
I started blogging with wordpress.com bought my domain through them as well. Moved my host site to GoDaddys managed wordpress plan. Am unable to move my domain for 60 days after I have registered it so I have a little while left. I am using massive sway to connect with brands and they ask where my site is hosted and gives the options as of blogger, tumblr, type pad, posterous, wordpress self hosted and other. So since I’m now hosted through GoDaddy but still with WordPress I didnt know if it was a self hosted wordpress or just other.

Link us your site and we should be able to see if it’s self hosted or not.

So you have a domain name that was registered through WordPress.com (and still is) – that is different from hosting. Hosting is where your website files are stored, your hosting providers as you say are GoDaddy.
You have a self-hosted WordPress site and your domain name was registered through WordPress.com.
Ok thanks, I appreciate the help!
