• I’m at a loss to figure out whats going on. In December I took my current website/blog, deleted all the content, and using the WordPress import/export toolI imported about 50 pages and around 150 posts from my test wordpress site. Everything copied over the way it was supposed to.

On 4 occasions, I’ve found changes I’ve made have disappeared without a trace. I had about 20 posts from 2013 that the images didn’t copy over. I went ahead and manually brought them over using FTP and the WP displayed the images correctly. Then a week later I checked and all those images were deleted from my FTP.

I’ve also found pages I’ve deleted (also deleted from the trash) show up again.

Last but not least on 2/15 I made a few minor changes to the text on a wordpress page. I check today (2/19), and those changes are gone and WP has reverted to the prechanged page. Revision history on the page shows now changes done on 2/15.

AFAIK no plugins were updated and wordpress was not updated.

  • Have you asked your hosting company about this? Or do you have any caching on your site and/or server?

    Update:

I realized something was wrong when the plugin Broken Link Checker showed me I had 1500 broken links (all to image files).

2/18 I got an email from Broken Link Checker showing I had 1 broken link
2/19 12:08am I got an email from wordpress stating wordpress had automatically updated to ver 4.1.1

2/19 10am – I get an email from Broken Link Checker saying I have 1500 broken link. I log into wordpress and I get a message saying I need to update to 4.1.1. So it looks like it something with the wordpress automatic update. I have a 2nd wordpress site that has lost changes as well

I’ll send an email to my host now. My site has been fine for the last few years, but they recently moved my site to a new server. Now that site #2 has been affected its really bugging me.

Yeah, that sounds troubling indeed. Hope they can be helpful.
