WordPress not showing text in chrome browser (20 posts)

    Hi there,
    I work at this organization and our wordpress website, which uses the modernize theme, has started doing a strange thing when using Google chrome. The images show up but the text does not. So the menu on the top is blank, the excerpts don't show, and sometimes the article headings don't show either. But once you click on something on the website, everything shows up.

    What is the issue here? The website works fine on internet explorer.

    If someone can point me at the right direction, that would be much appreciated!

    Hmmm that's strange kmessinger. This started happening a couple of days ago and we've had a bunch of people complain about it. I just can't figure out if this is a browser issue or something to do with wordpress.

    nicolet, I went on your website and that is the exact same issue! Hopefully people can help out. If I find a solution I'll let you know and if you resolve the issue on your site, please let me know!

    @nicolet
    When posting on this forum it is always better to start your own thread.

    I see both your sites fine. Nicolet I see your picture and copy like this Los Angeles based high-energy and creative professional with a 10-year experience in , etc. nottydawg - I see for example the new russian vanguard with pictures. Both of you have html errors. Not a lot but they might be causing a problem. Are you on PCs or Android?

    I am not sure where nicolet got her theme but you are using an old copy of WordPress and need to upgrade ASAP.

    nottydawg support for your theme is at http://themeforest.net/item/modernize-flexibility-of-wordpress/1264247/support

    Commercial themes are not supported here. http://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome#Commercial_Products

    We are on PCs and macs. Thanks for the link, I'll look into it.

    If it is an html error, how do I go about fixing it?

    If it is an html error, how do I go about fixing it?

    The validator will give you a line number and can show you the line. Then you have to figure out where that line is. A widget?
    Text input? Pasted code?

    Does it open with the error or after a screen refresh?

    Glad to see that others are having similar problem. I have the same problem too, if we take a look to see what we all have in common, we might be able to fix this.

    Hi nottydawg, you're webpage looks fine to me as well, whereas nicolet's webpage is just like mine where the words are gone but pictures stay. Once you click on something, they all come right out.

    Hello. I have the same issues as you are! However, as I'm using a commercial theme, I can't seek help here. So I'd like to follow this thread to see if you find the solution. (I bought my theme off Authentic Themes, but they haven't replied yet... So I'm kinda lost).

    @aaronkin: I installed it, and the problem was fixed!
    However today, the problem occurs once again with the plugin activated.(And I haven't changed anything!).......

    @aaronkin thanks! I installed the plugin as well and for one day it actually worked.. but today the same problem occurred: no text showing on chrome ..
    isn't there any other way to fix this bug??

    I'm experiencing the same issue on my site and happened to come across a post on someone else's site (http://wpbloggen.com/5-best-wordpress-social-share-plugin/) with the same issue. Their page and mine load fine in Firefox.

    Thanks to aaronkin for the temp fix link. It appears to be working for my site.

    It sounds like an issue with Chrome and not WordPress.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21948022/font-face-text-is-invisible-in-chrome-on-refresh-but-not-always

    Even if you think you have the same issue you should always create a new thread to discuss your own issue: http://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting#postform

    Thanks Andrew you pointed me in the right direction. It's a Chrome bug. Chrome isn't loading the fonts. The solution that finally worked for me was found here

    posted by rafikibubu -

    I'm now using a combination of the above solutions in the following arrangement....

    So first, I have that CSS fix pasted at the top of my styles.css:

    /* --------------------------------------------
    chrome font fix
    -------------------------------------------------*/

    body {
    -webkit-animation-delay: 0.1s;
    -webkit-animation-name: fontfix;
    -webkit-animation-duration: 0.1s;
    -webkit-animation-iteration-count: 1;
    -webkit-animation-timing-function: linear;
    }

    @-webkit-keyframes fontfix {
    from { opacity: 1; }
    to { opacity: 1; }
    }

    Then, I have the following script combination in my header (again, I know it needs refinement):

    <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.0/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
    $(function() { $('body').hide().show(); });
    </script>

    <script type="text/javascript">
    //JavaScript goes here
    WebFontConfig = {
    google: { families: ['FontOne', 'FontTwo'] },
    fontinactive: function (fontFamily, fontDescription) {
    //Something went wrong! Let's load our local fonts.
    WebFontConfig = {
    custom: { families: ['FontOne', 'FontTwo'],
    urls: ['font-one.css', 'font-two.css']
    }
    };
    loadFonts();
    }
    };

    function loadFonts() {
    var wf = document.createElement('script');
    wf.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https' : 'http') +
    '://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/webfont/1/webfont.js';
    wf.type = 'text/javascript';
    wf.async = 'true';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0];
    s.parentNode.insertBefore(wf, s);
    }
    (function () {
    //Once document is ready, load the fonts.
    loadFonts();
    })();
    </script>

    I hope this helps some of you too.
