WordPress mailing lists… how do they work?

    Hi there,

    This is probably a very simple beginner question, but how do wordpress mailing lists work? Are there different types?

    I know they simply collect email addresses from sign-ups on your blog, but then how do you actually send email to these people? How do you get the mailing list to work with your websites email?

    I have a webpage, and obviously it and my emails are handled by my web host, so how does the mailing list interact with my websites email?

    Hi,
    There’s no mailing list functionality built-in. But there are various mailing list plugins you can try. I found Mailpress to be excellent, but if I were a beginner, it would seem fairly complex. There are loads of them, though, and you’ll just need to try them out.

    WordPress does not interact with your website email. If you have a mailing list plugin, it will use your server’s mail function to send mail to its addresses, but this is totally separate from any email accounts you may have on your hosting.
