Hey Don,
I’ve always had trouble with media attachments on WordPress imports. If you’re moving from one host to another, try the following:
- FTP into your old host.
- Download everything in your media folder (default /
wp-content/uploads/).
- FTP into your new host.
- Upload the files, preserving the file structure.
i.e. you’re moving everything from /wp-content/uploads/ on your old server to /wp-content/uploads/ on your new server.
Assuming the permalinks haven’t changed, your media attachments should be working again.
Note: Because you’re not going through the media upload in WordPress, these files won’t appear in your Media Library, even though they *are* on your server.
I hope that helps a bit. 🙂
Thanks for your are answer, but I would prefer to keep media library info, so I would report it as a bug.
I can’t seem to get any new content to upload to my media library. I hit “upload” and it just hangs. This issue started about the time there was an upgrade to 3.4.2
Any suggestions?
