Ya…thats a great IDEA..infact i always thought of doing it.
But i dont think thats possible with wordpress.Because what we have in wordpress is just a blog and there is a limit for modifying our blog.

Thanks for responding. But i though, wordpress have a feature called “Plugins”, we can add as many plugins as we want that looks like friendster or facebook website, will it possible? (I am not so sure about the limitations of plugins)

I was researching into a social community site wishing i could be as rich as the owners, ended up playing some others for awhile before losing interest.
I have seen this guy Steve? with wordpress-Mu it imitates a social net work site. Some social network for college or uni students..

Yes i agree, there are a lotta plugins which can be properly used to mimic a social network site like orkut or facebook.
But the problem which stopped me from doing a social network site with wordpress is the fact that , we cant provide the registered users with a page of their own as in orkut, so that they can modify it to the way they like.i hope u guys can understand what i mean…
The registered users should be provided with a page of their own, so that they can add pics or anything they want, thats the primary requirement of a social network site. What do u guys think about that???

I understand what you are referring… This is what I though:
After registeration and verification, every successful registered user will have they own page stored in their own folder in database(MySQL). From there, registered user can modify it to the way they want. Is current wordpress cant do this?

The Buddypress is the one I want to build. But too bad, its not officially release yet… Anyway, it means, wordpress can be modify into something like friendster or facebook webbsite… Really cool!!!
