WordPress database error Can’t create/write to file

Hello Folks,

We are repeatedly getting this error in our error logs, as a result of which our site’s down frequently, our blog is running on a Virtual Dedicated server with 256 MB RAM memory and we get average 5000 unique visitors daily.

Apart from ramping up the hardware, can anyone please help me in sorting this & other similar wordpress DB error. I can provide additional details like mySQL configuration variables, if required. Many thanks for your help in advance.
