wordpress and httpd.conf DocumentRoot

Hi
I am new to wordpress, and i just installed it on linux in a cloud server under the directory /wordpress
the issue I have is that in order to reach my site, you need to go to http://www.example.com/wordpress

how do i make it so when someone go to http://www.example.com it will reach my site ?
i tried to change the DocumentRoot in httpd.conf to “/wordpress”, but then I cant use wp-admin
httpd error log says that when i go to http://www.example.com/wp-admin it cant find /wordpress/wordpress
