• I restored my site from a backup (Updraft Plus stored on Google Drive) to a new host (old host suddenly canceled account out of the blue so I couldn’t do a proper migration) and ever since then my plugins have been “losing”(for lack of a better term) their licenses. Now one of my plugins has given me a bit of insight with its error message. It says that my site URL may have changed, but it is still the same URL and content but on a different host (Bitnami on AWS Lightsail.) Is there anything I can do about this at all or should I bite the bullet and start from scratch?

  • There’s no central license management system in WordPress. Every plugin will have its own method for authenticating licenses for a particular website. Some may use the domain name, while others might use other methods. Because there is no central system, your only real option is to contact the developers of any affected plugins for support with recovering your license.
