• so; where do i install phpMyadmin. it seems that i’m confused about where to install. i have to install it to get it working and create a db.
right now i’ve used private in the root dir. of my server space; just above public.
so now as noted in a previous post i can’t install wp as it says the tables already exist .. but they don’t. and i get the following error when i click on the gibberish install button:
    Method Not Allowed
The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /*****/wp-admin/install.php.
so if you can help a desperate newbie it would be appreciated. also do i have to set permissions on files. it doesn’t say to do that in the 5 min install guide. thank you

  • Most hosts already have phpMyAdmin installed. If they can’t help you, then try this:
    http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+install+phpmyadmin

You have phpmyadmin in your control panel section of your web hosts admin area. You can call the web host and they will help you find it.

If you have 1and1, leave now, WP will not work properly with them most of the time. Also, if you have godaddy, good luck finding anything. Their control panel is a disaster. I know lunarpages, mediatemple and hostgator are good hosting companys and have it installed already.

Just so there is no confusion, 1and1 and godaddy, with linux hosting plans, work with WordPress. Also both provide access to your database with phpMyAdmin though the link to those is not called phpMyAdmin.

I beg to differ on 1and1, through personal experience and emails from their staff. Also, I posted some of it right here in these forums.

With godaddy, my comment was just to clarify that although they do have phpmyadmin and they will easily host a WordPress site, their control panel is a mess and the OP might not be able to find it.
