• I believe I have wp installed properly; I can see all the stuff on my site using my ftp software (golive).

Just tried this step: “Begin by logging into the Administration Panel.” I’m told I don’t have access, and get a 404 page.

are there instructions for people who really aren’t code-oriented, but who can design a blog page? I get the feeling as I read these tutorials there are many things assumed understood by the user, and I’m feeling pretty lost, high and dry here.

    thanks!

Do you mean Step 5 on the readme.html file that comes with WP? (Launch /wp-admin/install.php in your browser.)

Yeah, I did that right after I insalled WP, and got a page with 2 fields that didn’t work for me. If I do it now, I get a bunch of page code in the browser window.

    thanks!

That means it’s probably not installed.

    Who is your host ?
How did you upload the files ?
Do you have a web control panel for your site ?

my host is godaddy, I uploaded using GoLive (opened a window to my blog site, and dragged the wp files into it)

Web control panel? I’m a Mac user; not sure there is such a thing for me.

I can see all the wp files and folders in the golive window for my site, but maybe just there being there isn’t enough?

    GoLive probably killed the files.

The files must be uploaded in ASCII mode.
GoDaddy should not be a problem to host with, but use Transmit.

OK..I’ll use Transmit and go from there..prbly be back with more confusion, tho…
    thank you for the help!
