• Yep – I am going to need some help.

I don’t know if WordPress is going to be suitable for our club’s website. We want to bring our website up-to-date with a modern blog feel, but we also need a main portal so we have a combination of a full, traditional information website and a facility where members can add their own blogs.

Yes, I know WordPress is a blog site but I do not see the facilities for adding blogs anywhere from a fresh WordPress installation. Maybe we need to find the appropriate add-on.

If members are able to create their own blog, is it possible that their blog name will automatically appear in a separate menu which is visible on the home page?

    Thanks in advance.

    John

  • you might want to also look at things like forum tools. for instance vbulletin allows users to create their own blog. i beleive you can also do this in phpbb. i am not 100% sure but I am not sure wp will allow this. but it will allow multiple people to write posts, but they are under a single blog name. so you could have a blog, called club blog and any registered person could write. look at solidjott.com for an example – althought the post there are questions of the community but anyone who registers can post… Personally I think this is better than a user having a blog because what you will find is it is easy to start a blog and VERY hard to continue to post, so having a single blog with multiple edittors will make for a more active place…

If you want your members to have their own blog on your site, then you may want to look into WordPressMu, but be warned…it’s not for the technology novice.
