If you don’t want a blog, why do you want to use wordpress?
Just curious.
they say wordpress can be used to build websites as well as blogs. Its supposed to simpler to use than Joomla Mambo etc. Want to spend time on the content rather than getting my head round complicated programs

Several people in the comments point the sites they own, which are not blogs but based on wordpress. Plus, it appears to be a pretty good writeup.

admin – settings – reading
set this page to be home
if you want a blog page
create an empty page titled “Blog”
save it
admin – settings – rreading
make that your blog page
using wordpress as a CMS is easy with static Pages
