• Hi Guys,

I think I have caused myself a bit of trouble.

I followed this tutorial to set up a facebook application which asked me to set up a new directory. I used the directory within my website and made a new folder called “facebook”. I placed a file called index.php into this folder and after the tutorial I deleted the “facebook” folder and it’s contents.

However after the deletion my website is not working, all the wordpress folders are still there as is all the other stuff. I don’t know where to start to get my website up and running again.

It just displays blank, you cam see it here.

Thank guys, I really need your help on this one.

    Colin

  • Hi,

    Check with these options:

    – Upgrade your wordpress to the latest version
    – Remove all unwanted code from htaccess
    – Disable all the plugins.
    – Change your theme to default in order to rules out theme level issue

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

I think I have caused myself a bit of trouble….. Now execute the following command to move facebook.php and other library files outside the facebook-platform subdirectory.

Did you do the above as instructed for the facebook app? If so, you overwrote wordpress files.

Reupload wordpress via FTP – but DON”T overwrite wp-content or wp-config.php – and you can probably get your blog back. Your posts and pages are in the database, so you should’t loose your content.

Thanks songdogtech, I appreciate the help.

I set up the blog over a year ago so I’m a bit rusty. How do I go about re-uploading wordpress?

    Thanks.

My blog has a custom design, will I loose all the CSS files?

no. the css files are in your theme correct? Just make a backup copy of your theme. Might as well run a backup of your database too….that way you can be sure not to lose anything

Copy all the new wordpress files and folders over, *except* for wp-content – which holds your theme – and wp-config.php, which contains your database name and user, etc. If your host has pphmyadmin installed, go ahead and back up your database, too, re: Rvoodoo.

That’s right, good idea to backup everything. Thanks RVoodoo.

I’m a bit apprehensive about re-installing wordpress, I can’t even remember when I installed it and I’m afraid of messing it up. I’m really not sure where to begin.
