There should be a tab next to visual one that says HTML. Can you click on that tab to open the html editor?
The tabs are not visable… No Visual or HTML tabs??? I just updated the WP files, could that be my problem… Thanks, TIM
If you click on the link of your name in your dashboard you’ll be taken to your profile page where a check box that says use visual editor check that to bring back the visual editor.

Having said that, I have gone back to my profile page more than once and see no box to check for the visual or html editor…

Are you sure all the files were uploaded properly? It sounds like some files are missing.
Everythink else seems to be working. Do you know which file would contain this feature?
Make sure that you’re going to the correct Profile page. You need to be logged in as you, and then go to the “Your Profile” subpage. Not to the profile of the user that you happen to be.
Users->Your Profile. Look at the top menu bar.

I don’t know exactly which files but I would start with /wp-includes/js/
You could compare the files and directories you have uploaded to the WordPress installation that you used.

If you don’t see that, then your installation is badly broken. Reupload ALL of the WordPress files to your site.

I have the same problem! Your image shows a visual editor option above the admin colorscheme. I think thats the problem, because also by me this visual editor option is not there ! My personal option starts with the color scheme. I use wordpress 2.6.5

I have just deleted all files from my server, replaced the backup 2.6.3 to the server,(the latest good working version) and updated it to version 2.6.5. Now all is working fine again. Earlyer i only did the update 2.6.5 again, but that was not working. Only full delete and replace the backup solved the problem.
I have a similar issue. I updated to 2.6.5 five days ago and everything was working well until today. For some reason I see the Visual and HTML tabs, but can’t click them to toggle back and forth. It works on my friends computer currently – but stopped working on mine today.
