• Hello fellow WP users.

I was whizzing merrily away creating a new WP site and was terribly impressed with all the functionality and ease of use for me a non developer, but someone with a brain and some design skills.

Then all of a sudden the visual editor disappeared and left me with only HTML editor to work with – what a pain.

I tried all the tricks you guys have suggested to get the visual editor to work again – I have spent days, yes days, not hours, on these forums trying to find a solution which will work for me.

None did. So, I carried on just with the HTML editor which takes me longer and is less friendly but at least it works.

Until today when I went to try and upload some images, first from my computer. The buttons don’t work. I tried to add some images into my media library. This doesn’t work.

So I went back onto the forums and low and behold it seems that this is yet another problem with WP in the latest release………

Why oh why isn’t anyone at WP helping to get this fixed? I was so impressed with the product now I’m just frustrated because I can’t upload any images which makes my site boring.

Most of us aren’t techies and don’t have the time or the skills to start messing about with code.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Ah, hello Esmi. Thank you for replying. I have seen your reply above many times when reading all the other posts about these issues.

It doesn’t work for us all even though it has worked for some, so there are still a lot of us out there who cannot use the WP tools as they were intended.

We need a fix from WP please.

WordPress cannot “fix” issues that have been introduced into the site by 3rd party plugins, themes, content or server problems. This is your site. You have to troubleshoot the issues.

    Most helpful.

Hi, I’m having the same problems (no visual editor, nothing happening when I click ‘insert into post’ for images) PLUS the little toolbar at the top of the post box (italics, bold, add link, etc) isn’t there.

I’ve done everything suggested in all the various threads. I’m using WP 3.3.1 and Thesis theme 1.8.1. Nothing changes when I switch to WP’s default theme, so Thesis is not the issue.

Nothing changes when I disable all my plugins, so that’s not it. (And yes, I did reset my plugins folder, per that FAQ.)

What gives? Is this all a WP plot to make us better coders? I can do the HTML, but geez it’s slow, especially when I have a bunch of photos.

Any more ideas for fixes? I’m a little bummed to see how all the threads on this topic have trailed away to very little resolution.
