• I host my website blakevic.com through wordpress… I want to establish an email that is at blakevic.com – I have registered with google apps and am now attempting to verify the account, and I cannot figure it out.

Everything thing I read tells me I need to find the ‘Upgrades’ tab to ‘Domains’ and then alter my DNS settings.

I cannot find the upgrades tab anywhere in my entire dashboard. The icon used to describe the upgrades tab is used for contacts in my dashboard.

I feel like I can figure it out from the DNS settings, except I have no idea where to locate them.

I really want to set this email up and I have spent almost 3 hours this afternoon trying to figure out this verification process….

    Please Help!

  • I’m sorry but this has nothing to do with WordPress. Please try contacting Bluehost (your site’s hosts).

Sorry to open this up again

I am trying to verify my google apps account also.

There are 2 other ways to do it outside of the DNS changes.

    This is to
    1. Copy the meta tag below, and paste it into your site’s home page. It should go in the <head> section, before the first <body> section.

    <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”……………….jE” />

    OR

    2. Upload an HTML file to your server

This one is a one line file that needs a specific URL to ensure its up.

I was trying to do this over the weekend but still no joy. I finally got the HTML page up with the correct URL but the problem is that it is on a full page with the theme etc. there. This means that google doesn’t recognise it.

Can anyone help me with either uploading a .html file as media where the url can be user defined?
Or putting up the meta tag as shown in the 1st point.

    Thanks

    N

No just create a blank text file, save it using the .html name that Google gives you and then upload it to your wordpress folder using FTP or use whatever file management application your host provides.

Can this be done through the wordpress dashboard?

Like is it possible when selecting to add a new page that I can add a html file that will go to the root directory?

No. You need to use FTP or use whatever file management application your host provides.

    Ok,

    Thanks for your help.

    Much appreciated!
