Usual Comment Spam Problems

I’m running WP 1.5 and of course getting deluged with comment spam. I’ve tried the usual stuff (blacklisting words, closing comments on old posts, renaming the comment.php forms, etc) all to no avail. Right now I’m just going ahead and moderating all comments, since I don’t get that many legit ones in the first place, so it’s just easier to approve the one or two good ones and chuck the rest away.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the spammers are hitting the same 5 or 6 posts over and over again. I’ve got comments for old posts closed, and I’ve renamed the comment php files, so I know they’re not even going through the front end with these.

Is there a plugin or something that automatically throws away comments for posts in which comments are closed? If so, that would get rid of 99.9% of the spam I get. If not, I’ll give a third of my oxen to someone who can write one.
