You have a quicktag button for More (in the real editor), and a button for same in the RTE, on the post and edit screens.
You might like to check out the “sociability” sorts of plugins: Plugins – there’s one each for technorati and delicio.us, and a search through the Miscellaneous Post section will turn up Social Bookmarking and others. There’s also Ultimate Tag Warrior from
http://www.neato.co.nz/ – which *may* be the simplest to use, though I’ve been seeing some posts here that seem to indicate there are some recurring unsolved bugs at the moment.
What am I missing? I can’t find any quicktag buttons.
What is the real editor?
What is the RTE
And in looking under Plugins, there is a long list for technorati and delicio.us – any suggestions? I will look around in Miscellaneous
Thanks – I appreciate the help
I’m still looking for answers. I have looked all over the place and can not find anything that looks like quicktag, real editor, or RTE. Thanks
On the Write Post page. Those buttons above the write post areas that say things like “more” and “link” and “b”.. Those are the Quicktags.
The RTE is the Rich Text Editor, and it’s the fancy editor.
The “real editor” is the other one, which is less fancy but often works better. You can choose which you want on your Users page.
Thankyou – I found the “more” button.
Now I am looking for the button for yahoo tag suggestions – any clues?
And I would still appreciate some input on a simple tag plugin to help me put tags on my posts.
Yahoo tag suggestions come WITH the plugin mentioned above.
So that would be the Ultimate Tag Warrior?? I just got overwhelmed by my choices – I am pretty illiterate about this stuff. Is that the simplest place to start?
WP doesn’t have the “tags” feature that you want. (Unfortunately, we use the same word – template tags – to describe a totally different thing: internal functions of WP!)
So, when it comes to “tagging” the posts – you need a plugin.
You can find many: http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Technorati
OK, I think I somewhat understand the difference – but the list is overwheming.
Any suggestions for a pluggin that is simple? Is the UTW a good place to start or are there others?
While the UTW seems overwhelming at the beginning… it will do the most when it comes to tagging and using the tags in many useful ways.
To be honest, I didn’t use anything else, but this one works well on blogs where I use it.
UTW is very easy to use. It’s not really overwhelming because you don’t have to use all the functionality it can offer.
If you want tags, I recommend UTW.
UTW is extremely easy to use – while it can do a lot, I doubt you will need all of its functionality. More importantly, there is a support forum for UTW, and there is a lot of material out there.
Installing UTW is fairly straightforward – get the plugin, copy it to the plugin directory, activate the plugin, edit a couple of provided files to match your theme and upload the necessary ones to your theme directory. From that point on, you can go to the configuration section of the plugin and customize it to your needs.
