    Hello
I am about to install WordPress from my hosting account at Servage and the only version available is 3.9.1 and WordPress says on it’s own site that you should always update to the latest version.
I have sent Servage an e-mail and they say that they may update in the future but don’t know when that will happen. It concerns me that other hosts appear to use the latest versions and Servage doesn’t. Why is that ?
I also don’t want to be in a position (as a novice) where I cause myself problems in the future.
Can anyone help me with some good advice please ?
    Thanks in anticiaption…..

Firstly, it will be simple to upgrade your WordPress installation after you install v3.9.1, while technically obsolete, and you really do want to run a fully updated website. So Run the install, then login to the WordPress dashboard, and run through the updates of the plugins and WordPress core.

Otherwise you could do a manual install, just following the instructions, it is not that hard. You will need to be familiar with your website management tools, like Filezilla for FTP and also parts of your website management like database management and so on.

    Hello Ross
Many thanks for your reply. I think I will take your initial advice as I am a complete novice and am learning from you tube videos etc.
I am sure there are easier ways of building a website but I fancy ‘having a go’.
Once again thank you and I am sure I will be asking further questions, some perhaps ridiculously simple, but it’s a little challenge for me!
