• I have 5 users that are not visible in the member directory for no apparent reason (I have good reason to believe that they did not intentionally or accidentally mark themselves as private). The problem is that as admin, I can’t seem to tell if they have been marked as private. If I log in as one of the users, I can’t get to my account settings to see or change them.

The best explanation is that they have somehow become marked to not show in the directory, but now that that (may be) is done, I don’t see how to undo it.

  • Hi,

    Here are some options.

    1. Remove the ability of users to mark their profiles as private.
    2. Install the latest pre-release version of Ultimate Member from here, which includes some fixes for the member directory:

    https://github.com/ultimatemember/ultimatemember/releases

Be sure to perform a full backup of your site and database before installing a pre-release version, especially on a live site.

I am a bit confused by the problem, though: you should be able to log in as one of those users through WP-Admin and then view the user’s settings as if you were that user.

    Best regards,
    Rob

Thanks, helpful suggestions – I’ll give it a try.

On the confusion – my error. When a user logs in normally, he is automatically redirected to a home page, so he doesn’t see his account. I did attempt a login via WP-Admin and was able to get to the user’s profile. The bad news is that it was NOT marked to keep the profile private. So that is apparently not the problem.

I will attempt the new version and hope for the best.

    Thanks again,
    –Don

Installed the pre-release. Things seem to be fine now.

    Thanks for your help.

Had this same issue. User marked themselves to be excluded from the directory and saved. They then changed the setting back, but this did not change the database setting. On the front-end they were marked as ‘No’ under hide from directory setting, but I had to manually edit the database and remove the entry on their user record to get them to display again on the site. Will try the new release to see if this has been fixed.
