User roles?

    Ok I’ve tried explaining this like hundreds of times but people keep telling me to use user/role permission type of plugins. NO! That is not what I am talking about. This is completely different. When you login as an administrator, the left hand side has a vertical menu with different names and icons, such as; Dashboard, JetPack, Plugins, Settings, Themes, etc.

    Is there a way to let different user roles see specific items on that menu and not have access to others? Please do not tell me to use user/role permissions…

    Sorry it’s not what you want to hear, but that’s what controls access to those items. The users role on your blog, directly relates to what they see and can access in the side menu you are referring to. Roles and Capabilities

    Can you custom tailor user roles to add or subtract access to those items in the user role capabilities? Yes. You can.

    What I’m looking for is access to specific tabs on the left hand side of the screen that is user friendly

    I believe the MarketPress plugin “Products” menu is already only available to administrators and editors. If you need finer access controls, maybe they can give you some tips on the easiest way to fine tune the user rights over at the MarketPress plugin support site
