• Hi,
This is the first time my site implement membership plugin. Before, membership is managed manually on spreadsheet. With our new website, we will be using your wonderful plugin. I am thinking of using our spreadsheet as source to import our current users into SWPM. But there are a couple of issues. Can you share your thoughts on as how best to tackle them?

    1) Our membership expiry is on fix day, Dec 31 each year. But currently some members have paid for two years, so expiry is Dec 31 2021. While some expire in 31 Dec 2020. Also a fair number has paid for life membership and has no expiry date. When it comes to register on the website with SWPM live, I am not sure what is the best approach to handle these.

    2) Our members currently are not WordPress users, so they do not have username and password. Our membership spreadsheet does not have these columns. I can assign username to them on import but not sure if that is the best approach. Then there is question on password. Can SWPM be set to require change of password when first login?

In other words, how can I get existing members to register for membership without going through the registration process and without payment? We don’t offer free memberships.

I am hoping SWPM have some settings or workaround to accommodate these situations.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Please check the following documentation simple-membership-bulk-import-member-data-csv-file which explains how our plugin handles importing members data from a CSV file.

In other words, how can I get existing members to register for membership without going through the registration process and without payment? We don’t offer free memberships.

Unfortunately this part might be a bit challenging. The reason is because first our plugin needs to register members into the system, then it will be able to process the membership levels for each member. Since your members don’t exist in your site our plugin will need to go through the proper registration process so it knows what to do. The following documentation manual-button-to-allow-updating-changing-membership-level might help you.

The following documentation membership-registration-process-overview explains the registration process, which gives you an idea of hour our plugin works.

Let me know if the helps you in any way.

    Thank you

    Hi @mbrsolution,
Thanks for the quick reply. Too bad that SWPM does not have a feature to directly address the issue. But your suggestion does get me thinking of other workarounds.

Does the plugin can be configured for a Free Trial level with a fix-date expiry, say Dec 31, 2020? I can ask existing members to register on the new website without paying. They can set their own username and password at registration.
Most will have to renew or upgrade for 2021 membership with payment.
For those who previously paid for two years, I can manually upgrade their membership level without paying again for 2021. Can this manual process work? If not, I will have to go with using manual-button-to-allow-updating-changing-membership-level.
For the life members, I can do the same.

Will this works and what get-you I have to be aware of?
