There is an option to upload a file when writing out a post right underneath the text input area. Just select the image/file you want uploaded, click ‘upload’ and WordPress will do the rest.
I also have this same question. I just got a WP blog and tried twice to upload an image but it never shows up in the actual post. Is there something else I’m to do?

I have the same problem. There seems to be two ways of importing photos – one using the Manage>Uploads page and one within the actual post itself.
The problems I have are –
I have 5 pics uploaded using Manage>Uploads but it no longer gives me the option to upload more pics or transfer them to my posts.
From within a post I am able to upload a pic from file but unable to get it to appear in the post itself.
