Upgrading MySQL

    I’ve been trying to update MySQL from 5.5 to 5.6 with no luck at all. Is there an easy way to do this via an “auto” update, or is this something that has to be manually done?

    This is outside the scope of WordPress.
    You should ask your host for help if you don’t see how to do it in the host’s control panel.
