• I’m trying to back up my WP database using the plugin provided. Though instructions weren’t provided originally I have done what you are supposed to do,

Made a directory in wp-content called backup

But when I went to ‘manage’ the back up I get these warnings

WARNING: Your wp-content directory is NOT writable! We can not create the backup directory.
    /home/glamynet/public_html/wp-content/backup-d5089/

WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable! We can not create the backup directory.
    /home/glamynet/public_html/

So I have changed the backup directory to ‘backup-d5089’ since that seems to be the name they actually wanted.

I HAVE made the directories writable, but I keep getting that error. It just won’t go away and I can’t backup.

  • You need to make the wp-content directory writeable to allow the plugin to create the backup folder.

I found that I only needed to make the wp-content directory writeable to allow it to create the backup folder, and could change it back afterwards.
