Upgrade issues

    I’m wanting to upgrade to the latest version of wordpress and have backed the site and database on the server. However I am unable to use the Automatic Upgrade option on the WP Dashboard.

    I’ve downloaded the latest version of WordPress and want to install it but surely if I drop that onto the server it is going to erase all my widgets and scrub my theme etc? Can somebody help me out with this by any chance?
