unexpected T_STRING on install

    I’m trying to install it, and upon running:

    http://www.diabolik.tv/main/wp-admin/install.php

    Get the following error message:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /var/www/vhosts/diabolik.tv/httpdocs/main/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1211

    I uploaded functions.php again and it still did the same thing, and changed access permissions on the folder I am installing it in and it’s still doing the same thing.

    So I tried to go back to an earlier version of WordPress and on trying to run install.php for version 2.0 it says:

    Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /var/www/vhosts/diabolik.tv/httpdocs/main/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 377

    i see an MT installer at main/ so Im not looking any further

    Yeah I’ve decided to install that instead. It works.
