• I have been using wordpress for about a month now, and have successfully added media to my blog posts. But tonight the media button is greyed out and I can’t add any media to my post. I can’t figure out if this is a bug or if there is some restriction on my site that won’t allow me to add any more media. I’m also unable to add any tags to my draft post or any new categories. Any help would be appreciated.

sorry I meant to add that my blog site is http://www.mrsw.co.uk

I am having the same problem in WP 4.0. This is what I’ve done so far…

    – disabled at plugins
    – reverted to “Twenty Fourteen” theme
    – cleared cache, restarted browser, then cleared cache again

I’ve tried this in both Chrome and Safari.

Still when I click on the “Add Media” button on a post or page, nothing happens.

    I just ran this script w/ no luck…. define('SCRIPT_DEBUG', true);

I went to View > Developer > JavaScript Console

I have no idea what this means, but here’s the output…

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input load-scripts.php:1
Uncaught ReferenceError: wp is not defined meta-boxes-variations.min.js?ver=2.1.12:1
2Consider using ‘dppx’ units, as in CSS ‘dpi’ means dots-per-CSS-inch, not dots-per-physical-inch, so does not correspond to the actual ‘dpi’ of a screen. In media query expression: print, not all, (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 1.25), (min-resolution: 120dpi) post.php?post=8&action=edit&message=1:1

    Thanks in advance!

My website is broken. 🙁 My add Media' button does not work either. When pressed it responds with a # at the end of my URL and Nothing else. The link button also does not respond - I don't know if this is related to the same problem. Like Amelia I have been a WordPress user for about a month with no previous problems. Just prior to this problem I installed and then uninstall two Plugins.Soundy Background Music’ I also added three MP3 files to my library. The plugin worked fine, but was not what I was looking for so I deactivated it, then deleted the program. (song would restart each time you clicked to another page) the second Plugin I tried was WordPress Music. That is when I discovered I could no longer add Media. http://www.mystoryloft.com
I reinstalled the first plugin hoping that would fix the problem. I guess it didn’t.

The same problem here, although I hadn’t added the two plugins.
I’ve also tried switching to the 2014 theme, creating a new page, saving and re-opening, clearing cahce and cookies from browsers, Firefox, Chrome and IE10

Anyone know how to fix this as it’s strting to really become an issue

fixed! switched to Twenty Fourteen theme and deactivated all plugins. (read this in another thread) Media and link buttons now work. Reactivated a few plugins and tested buttons again – all ok – until I reactivated ‘Comprehensive Google Map Plugin’. Had original problem again. I will leave not activate again until fixed.

Just found that in my case it was the CKEditor for WordPress plugin.

Add media button now works, but when I go through and add files to a gallery and then click add gallery, it goes back to the page but doesn’t add anything

I’m not using the Comprehensive Google Map Plugi, so I guess it’s a case of dis-abling all plugins and see if that works, then add back one by one until it falls over again 🙁

Thank you wendysue42, phatton and mjs9697! Last night I was feeling completely lost and now its fixed. I just deactivated all my plugins and then only reactivated pinterest, jet pack and the simple social buttons. I was using Comprehensive Google Map Plugin so it might have been that one that caused the problem – thanks again!

Hi! I have the same problem, but I have just deactivated all my plugins and it doesn´t work. I have installed Enfold Theme. The widget area doesnt work also and I cant add tags in post too.

At Enfold Theme has it own widget screen and I see some of them as these:

    -Enfold Advertising Area
    -Enfold Google Maps Widget
    -Enfold Latest News
    -Enfold Latest Portfolio
-Enfold RSS Link and Twitter Account

    Someone has a solution? Thanks

Looks like I was having the same problem as wendysue42 – I deactivated the Comprehensive Google Maps Plugin and everything seems to be back to normal.
