• I have been getting emails saying I have multiple comments (lots of spam) but when I log into wordpress only one comment shows up. When I go to delete or spam it it says “Are you sure you want to do this? Try again.” How do I fix this? I downloaded Akismet to check for spam in the future but when I click the check for spam button Fatal error: __clone method called on non-object in (blog website) comes up. Any thoughts?

    From your WordPress correct?

I downloaded Akismet to check for spam in the future but when I click the check for spam button

Where is this check for spam button?

I have the same issue with an practically clean install of wordpress, latest version.

The interesting part is that the box:
“Users must be registered and logged in to comment” is checked.
    The box
“Anyone can register” is not checked.

I am the only user at this point.

The comment was made by Derrick %/hdkspjbhk805 31.134.253.132

There may be some issue that does not enforce the rules.

And then the leak somehow messes up the comment stack.

I am having the same exact issue with a comment. It is a spam comment I cant trash it or spam it. I would love to find a solution as well.

The solution is to disable Akismet for a short amount of time just to delete the comments. If the comments show up in “trash” in comments, restore them and re-delete them. Then you can re0enable Akismet. Akismet has a known bug that causes it to do that.

Unfortunately, I was not even using Akismet and had it completely deleted off my plug ins and deactivated the issue still persisted. I saw many forums and tried literally everything. Luckily, I hadnt launched my blog yet I was in the beginning stages. I completely removed wordpress from dream host reinstalled it and restored my website back to what it was. Issue is now gone. I know many people are not going to have that option so not too helpful.
