• I just uploaded the files for Ultimate Tag Warrior 3, but the plugin isn’t showing up on my Manage Plugins screen. Thus, I can’t activate the plugin and I’m being deprived of so much taggy goodness!

    What gives?

  • did you follow the install instructions carefully? there’s a bit more to installing it than the average plugin

Here are the first two lines of the instructions:

    1. Copy the files to wp-content/plugins/UltimateTagWarrior.

2.Activate the Plugin: Go to the Plugins Panel and you will see three plugins listed under UltimateTagWarrior.

Yes, I followed the install instructions correctly. Instead of seeing three plugins listed, I see zero.

you probably have a folder within a folder

    I’ll pass.

your choice. I see you haven’t got it working

    Best place for UTW support:

Dedicated forum run by UTW’s developer.

The most recent versions of UTW do indeed have folders inside folders. There’s a themes folder and plugins folder, the contents of the plugins folder is what is uploaded to your plugins folder. The files in the themes folder is for creating tags pages and tag search pages.

I’m shocked that it’s not working. Brilliant advice like “there’s no reason for it not to work” should do the trick, shouldn’t it?

Anyway, I’ve got it working now.

Brilliant advice like “there’s no reason for it not to work” should do the trick, shouldn’t it?

Come now, you’ll probably not admit it but you were doing something wrong, weren’t you? And you said you weren’t earlier, and I said that if you truly weren’t, then it would be working. Obviously I was right

Posting the solution as to what was wrong would go a long way toward helping future users.

Resiny, knock it off. One of the PHP files was missing from the ZIP archive I had. I downloaded a fresh copy (an upgrade), installed it and it worked. Didn’t like the plugin, though, so it’s gone now.

So yes, I did something wrong. I trusted the integrity of an archive. Mea maxima culpa.

    [self-flagellates]

    Happy?
