• Hi,

I’m using wordpress for more of a cms then a blog. But now I want to add a ‘blog’ to my site. My site has my posts customized to a certain layout. But i want my ‘blog’ posts do have a different layout. Also, I’d prefer that readers can search ‘blog’ tags/categories independently of other tags/categories. Finally, I want my site and blog to have the exact same header and footer. I’m looking into WP-Hive but I’m not sure yet if this plugin can accomplish what I want. Wanted to see if other users out there had experiences like this? I can’t be the only person out there who uses wordpress like a cms and now wants a more traditional blog on my site. I’ve seen other posts but it didn’t seem like other users were doing what I wanted.

    Hi
I would also like to know pretty much the same thing.
I was just going to go ahead and use one install in the main directory (http://mysite.com/) as a CMS system for site pages which could be anything up to 100 pages. Then do another install in a subdirectory (http://mysite.com/blog/) which would be a more traditional blog.
Could anyone comment on what problems I might run into?
Would I have a problem with a robots.txt file – and would I need more than one?
would I have a problem with a site map file?

Any input would be greatly appreciated and many thanks
    Julian

    admin – settings – reading
set up a page to be your static front
now create an empty page titled “Blog” (or whatever)
choose this empty page to be your blog posts page

    only one install needed
