    Hi there,

    Two things:

1.) My understanding of shared-counts was that it captured lost counts when, for example, you change your site over to https. But shouldn’t my current Twitter shares be showing up? On the page I listed, I know I have a number of Twitter shares, but the count is zero. Those all occured post-switch to https. If I’m misunderstanding, apologies in advance.

2.) I understand that Twitter lost that NewShareCounts.com API connect, but I saw that you had mention awhile back that you were working on an alternative. I also saw that another user requested an update a week ago. Is there any plan to get twitter back in the mix? If so, any idea when?

    Thanks for your help!

    Thanks for the message.

Shared Counts used NewShareCounts for twitter counts, which was shut down unfortunately. The next release of Shared Counts will include support for a different 3rd party Twitter service (see here).

Shared Counts lets you capture your lost counts for services that actually provide share counts based on a URL (ex: Facebook, Pinterest…). We do this by asking those services for the counts on the https version of the url AND the http version of the URL.

But since Twitter has no first party method of retrieving counts for a URL, we’re limited to what the third party services provide, and they only start tracking the twitter share count once you sign up for their service.

    I hope that helps.
